LOVE IS THE WIND BENEATH OUR WINGS
Inspired by the hummingbird, this collection as a reflection of love, beauty and healing, as represented by hummingbird and flower designs by Aylelum’s Traditional Coast Salish Master Artist, William Good.
Aylelum is an artist family creating wearable works of art.
The artistic collaboration began 35 years ago with Sandra Moorhouse-Good and William Good’s 1990’s Coast Salish clothing line labelled Ay Ay Mut, which means “beautiful” in Hul’q’umi’num.
Today, the driving forces behind this artistic family’s labor of love are designer sisters Aunalee and Sophia of Aylelum. The sisters design clothing and original fabric patterns featuring Traditional Coast Salish Art created by their Father William Good and Brother W. Joel Good of the Snuneymuxw First Nation Hereditary Chief Family.
We love the designer’s use of the highest quality sustainable, natural and recycled fabrics in their echo-friendly designs. Fabrics such as TENCEL™, hemp, bamboo, organic cotton, and recycled polyesters. So by investing in an Aylelum design you are having a positive impact on the environment while looking absolutely fabulous.
Coast Salish Flower of Life
Chiffon hooded cape worn with Aylelum’s curve hugging maxi dress.
The flower designs and roses signify the Coast Salish Flower of Life. According to William Good, the feature artist in this collection, these were commonly used in Traditional Coast Salish art on textiles and in wood. The flower of life signifies the creation of beauty itself and honors the bringers of life and Matriarchs.
White chiffon slides gently over the skin like the feathers of the hummingbird that is the inspiration for this gorgeous low back gown. Pairs beautifully with many of the collection’s capes.
This bamboo hummingbird and flower dress with chiffon sache hugs every curve. Beautiful Hummingbird cape of chiffon flows effortlessly in the breezes.
