What inspired you to create your Wild Hip Face Cream?
I created it to help my own skin, which was breaking out constantly from the big brand name moisturizers. I discovered that most commercial moisturizers are petroleum-based chemical stews that include known carcinogens including phthalates, paraben and artificial scent. My skin was saying NO! and I had to listen.
I did a lot of research as an Herbalist and created a formula that incorporated Wild Rose Hips, which were abundant in the wild places around my home in Canada’s far north, and five proven skin-healing herbs. It took me four years of trial and error to arrive at my final formula. I was committed to a cream that contained none of the chemical ingredients in commercial brands and yet was soft, smooth, absorbed beautifully and smelled delicious. When I won the award at the International Herb Symposium in Boston, I knew I had succeeded!
What’s so special about your ingredients?
I firmly believe that “If you can’t eat it, you shouldn’t put it on your face.” All face cream is absorbed directly into your body via your skin so it had better be edible. As a result of a commitment to meticulously clean ingredients,my moisturizer is well loved by even the most sensitive, tender and troubled skin. I tease my clients that if stranded on a deserted island, they could eat their face cream. 😊
Wild Rose Hips are one of the richest plant sources of Vitamin C which is anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and collagen-building on the skin. They also contain bioflavonoids, vitamin E, minerals and B complex vitamins. My cream also contains Calendula, Comfrey, Lavender, Plantain and Mullein. These herbs, which I grow organically at my herb farm on Vancouver Island, Canada, are renowned for their ability strengthen and repair the skin. Only pure essential oils are used to scent my cream and each adds healing benefits. The absence of petroleum, parabens, phthalates and artificial scent is what truly separates this cream from the pack.
What else is unique about your cream?
Wild Hip Face Cream is for all skin types as it will normalize dry / oily / sensitive / combination skin with its healing herbs, oils and waters. Rose hips also help with redness and inflamed skin.
I also do not make “day”, “night”, or “eye” versions of my cream, as I believe that “You have one face; you need one cream”. Creating multiple face creams is a tactic of the cosmetics industry to exploit women financially. I believe that if your face cream is not safe for use under your eyes, it is not safe on your face, period. We don’t need many creams – we need one that works.
Finally, I never make claims about my products being “anti-wrinkle” or “anti-aging”, as it is not only illegal, but unethical. All of us age, and no face cream can turn an 80 year-old into a 20 year-old, so let’s stop pretending. What I do maintain is that using a cream with healing herbs and without artificial chemicals will help you love your face at any age. My goal has always been to make women happy to look in the mirror every day.
